Is your hair thinning?

There are many reasons for hair loss. Genetics play a large role in male pattern baldness. Hormones, thyroid problems, and nutritional deficiency can also affect your hair. Stress may be a factor. Ruling out any medical reason with your doctor is an important step. If there is no underlying medical condition that can be treated and resolved, PRP therapy may be a suitable treatment for you. Your blood is composed of two main components: red blood cells and plasma. Plasma contains platelets, which are rich in growth factors. These are what make PRP therapy work.

How PRP and Microneedling Work Together for Hair Growth

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) combined with microneedling is a popular, non-surgical solution for hair growth. This procedure harnesses the body’s natural growth factors in PRP to regenerate hair follicles and stimulate new growth. Microneedling enhances this process by creating tiny micro-injuries in the scalp, allowing the PRP to penetrate deeply and activate healing.

First, a small sample of the patient’s blood is drawn and processed to isolate the platelet-rich plasma rich in growth factors. During the treatment, microneedling creates microchannels in the scalp, which helps stimulate the body’s natural healing process and increases collagen production. The PRP is then applied directly to the treated areas, boosting follicle activity and encouraging hair growth.

Benefits of PRP and Microneedling Together

  • Increased absorption: Microneedling enhances the scalp’s ability to absorb PRP, ensuring the growth factors reach the hair follicles more effectively.
  • Stimulates new growth: The PRP boosts hair follicle regeneration and improves hair thickness.
  • Non-invasive: This treatment offers a natural, non-surgical way to restore thinning hair with minimal downtime.
  • Improved scalp health: Microneedling enhances circulation and the delivery of nutrients to the scalp, creating a healthier environment for hair growth.

These treatments offer a comprehensive approach to hair restoration in Austin, providing patients with innovative solutions to regrow and strengthen their hair.

Get thicker hair without surgery in Lakeway, TX

PRP therapy uses the natural growth factors in your own blood to stimulate your hair follicles and trigger hair growth. Platelet-rich plasma has been used for many years to accelerate the healing process in tendon, muscle, and joint injuries. One of its newer uses is in promoting hair growth. PRP has been shown to increase hair count and thickness as well as improving root strength and stimulating collagen production. Benefits of PRP therapy for hair loss include:

  • The procedure is non-surgical and minimally invasive.
  • The procedure uses platelets from your own blood, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction, and the treatment is very safe.
  • The treatment only takes about an hour.
  • There is no scarring.
  • No downtime is required.
  • Results are natural-looking, as there is no transplantation involved. Your hair’s own growth process is simply stimulated and supported.

How long will I have to wait for my results?

After your PRP treatment, you may experience some soreness around the injection sites for a few days. An ice pack can be used to relieve any discomfort. Your results will be gradual. The first thing you notice may be decreased shedding or an improvement in your hair texture. As time goes on, you should notice that your hair looks and feels stronger, thicker, and healthier. For best results, we recommend one treatment a month for the first three months. After that, a treatment every three to six months should suffice. You should begin to notice results after about two to three months.

Is it painful?

PRP for hair loss is an outpatient procedure that requires three steps. The first is a standard blood draw from your arm. Next, your blood is placed in a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich plasma. Finally, this plasma is injected into different parts of your scalp where you want thicker hair. The injections are relatively pain-free, but local anesthetics may be used. Usually, a topical numbing cream is sufficient. The entire procedure takes about an hour to perform, after which you can return to your regular daily activities.
