Juvéderm Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus – 24 mg per ml – Hylacross™ Technology

With 24 mg per ml of HA, Juvéderm Ultra and Ultra Plus are the most hydrophilic of the fillers, meaning they tend to attract more water post-injection creating more volume and some swelling. They are great for adding soft pillows to the lips and replacing structure back to the border and cupid’s bow. They can also be used around the mouth and in the lower face. Juvéderm Ultra tends to last about 6 months using the Hylacross technology and with around 6% cross-linking. Juvéderm Ultra Plus tends to last about 6-10 months at around 8% crosslinking using the same Hylacross technology.

Juvéderm Voluma – 20 mg per ml Vycross™ Technology

With the new Vycross technology, Allergan has been able to provide HA fillers that can last longer without excessive hydrophilic swelling which can occur with higher concentrations of HA and Hylacross technology. Voluma is considered a powerhouse for lifting the midface and sculpting the jawline. Think of it as doing more of a “lift and tack” instead of just filling a space.

When small injections are placed in the right areas of the midface, changes can be seen in nasolabial folds, jowls, and tear troughs. It is one of our favorite fillers to use and lasts the longest of all the HA fillers, ideally 18-24 months. It is definitely a favorite of our male clients, but our lean, high-metabolism gentlemen should expect it to last about half of the time, 9-12 months, the first few times they are injected.

After nearly two decades of injecting filler, we’ve observed that this is true for most. One of the major manufacturers demonstrated that our natural collagen fibers better withstand time/aging when ideally supported with dermal fillers.

Juvéderm Vollure - 17.5 mg per ml Vycross Technology

At 17.5 mg per ml of HA per ml, Vollure offers the perfect middle-ground filler that can correct deep dermal contour deformities, and volume loss in the lips, cheeks, chin, and lower face. It provides some hydration without over-plumping areas around expression lines and the tear troughs. With the new Vycross technology, its ability to stretch around areas of movement but last longer than one year is impressive; most are seeing up to 18 months of duration with fabulous results. It is another favorite for lips as it provides structure and support without an exaggerated pout.

Juvéderm Volbella -15 mg per ml Vycross Technology

Even with the least amount of HA per ml, Volbella absorbs the smallest amount of water post-injection and can be used in thin-skinned areas such as around the mouth and in sunken tear troughs. It is extremely soft and provides a smoothing gloss-like effect to lips removing crepey lines and is great for those wanting to rejuvenate their lips but are afraid of the “duck pout.” We tend to call it the gateway drug to lip filler. Because of the new Vycross technology, even this thin filler is still able to last up to 12 months.

Juvéderm Volux – Hyaluronic acid gel 25 mg per ml

Juvéderm Volux is created with Vycross technology, an innovative manufacturing process that produces crosslinked HA to make a specialized smooth gel filler. Juvéderm VOLUX has been designed to modify the chin and jawline contours as well as redefine the facial oval when skin becomes slack. Its softness lets it distribute quickly and evenly in the dermis for natural-looking results.
